Facebook has just launched a new platform called Facebook Campus, as they look to solve its ‘teen problem’ and bring the younger generation back.

Campus is designed to be a place where students can interact only with peers at their school; they can access a Campus-only News Feed and join Groups, events, and group chat rooms, called Campus Chats, pertaining to campus life. In a nod to the original Facebook, they’ll even have access to a “Campus directory” where they can find and friend other students.

The social media giant wrote;

“Today, we are launching Facebook Campus, a college-only space designed to help students connect with fellow classmates over shared interests. Facebook Campus makes it easy to find and start conversations within your college community.”

How to access Facebook Campus

In order to access Campus, Students have to provide their .edu email address as well as their graduation year, and once they’re in, they’ll create a new profile specifically for the section, although their usual profile and cover photos will follow them to Campus. They’ll also have the option to add or remove their major, classes, hometown, dorm, and minor.

“We wanted to create a product where it was easy for classmates to meet each other, foster new relationships and also easily start conversations,” explains Facebook Campus Product Manager Charmaine Hung. “And we really think that Campus is more relevant than ever right now. With COVID-19, we see that many students aren’t returning to campus in the fall. Now, classes are being held online and students are trying to react to this new normal of what it’s like to connect to clubs and organizations that you care about, when you’re not together,” she added.
