THE RAVAGER
Episode 1

He walked into the Office, he was the Third Person I am to attend to and I had another Two Left, each person having 30 minutes or at most an Hour.

The last person was confused about Career Choice and you know it's always the Problem the Young Folks Face.

I asked him to Seat Down and he did. We exchanged pleasantries and I did my Routine Familiarization before listening to them. The Familiarization helps to get them relaxed so that they can open up freely. He was now settled

"You're Welcome once again Sir, so what is it that you want to share?" I asked

"Something bothers me, I did something in the Past and it hurts me when I remember it" He replied

"One thing you must understand about the Past is that it keeps coming up, More like a Reoccurring Decimal, that is why you need to deal with the Ghosts from the Past so as to Go Foward" I said passionately

"You won't understand, I don't know how you'll see me but I need someone to talk to" He said

"Listen, I am a Counselor, no matter What it is, you can Talk to Me, when you talk about something that bothers you especially with a Counselor, you take so much weight off your shoulders" I replied

I tried convincing him to Open up, I've met people like this and I know exactly how to get them talking. Finally it worked.

"Madam, I...I forcefully had Carnal Knowledge of a Girl" He Confessed.

"Ehm, you mean like..."

"I Raped someone, a Girl" he said

My eyes Widened, I tried muttering something but  I didn't know what I was supposed to say. I was so Shocked. I got up from my seat

"Excuse me minute please" I said to him as I left

I walked straight to the Rest Room, in my Five Years as a Counselor I have never seen a Man come out to say "I am a Rapist". It's always the Women who get abused that come for Counseling, but right in my Office, I have a Rapist seated.

I washed my face and looked at the mirror, pulled my face towel and cleaned my face then Joined him in the Office and sat down.

"So Tell me, How did it happen?" I asked him

He started Explaining how he perpetrated the Act. As he was Speaking, I started feeling somehow, due to this funny feeling, I cut him short and had to reschedule the Meeting. I asked him to come back the Next day so we can talk about it.

My name is Dr. Sandra and I am a Counselor.

My Profession came through a desire to give people a Listening Ear and to help them Scale through their Worries and Troubles, walking with them through it and giving them the most suitable Pieces of Advice thereby helping them make Good Choices in Every Puzzle they may have.

At 37 and in just a Few Years of practice, I have met different people with different Challenges, Singles, Married, Young Persons, Adolescents, etc. I have come to realize that everyone has something bothering them no matter how little.

This Particular Case happened to be so different from what I used to know. Ordinarily, the Victims of Rape are those who come to us to seek counsel, not the Rapists themselves. Today happened to be the first of his kind.

I rescheduled to meet him the Next day so we can talk because at the moment, I wasn't myself. I was put off by what he said, I guess he felt a little embarrassed by my reaction.

The rest of my day was a little abnormal, I wasn't myself again. I managed to finish with the other Clients for the Day then quickly packed up to go. I asked my Secretary to give me the details of the Man in question at least, the ones he provided at the point of Booking a Counseling Session with me, and she gave them to me.

It wasn't a long drive home, my Husband was in the Kitchen preparing something while my Two lovely kids were watching Television. After they welcomed me, I walked straight to the room, took off my shoes and lied down on the Bed. I didn't do much today but mere looking at me, I looked like I had just come out of a Rigorous Exercise.

Chuka soon joined me in the Room, we've been Married for eight years and it's been wonderful. He understands me and sensed something bothered me and it's connected to the office.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Chuka asked

"Nah, don't worry, I'm fine" I replied

He stood for a while before leaving, he knows I'll talk to him if I wish to and understands when I want to be left alone. He signaled me to come and eat and I told him I would join him after I had my shower.

I managed to put behind me, the worries I got from work. I had a lovely evening with my family.

The Next day, I took the kids to school before heading to my office. On remembering that man and his Case, I suddenly got Weak. I gave him 11am and by 10:50am, he was here already. At sharp Eleven, I called for him.

He was properly dressed, with a Senator Attire, looking so Responsible.

I wasn't ready to talk about his case, I wanted to be a little free with him so he can be Truthful and be free to talk to me. I got an idea. I started talking about his personality

"You said you're..." I asked needing affirmation

"Dr. Smith...Smith Nzube" he replied

"Okay Mr. Smith, your form says you're 44, Married, You're an Architect. So tell me, How long long have you been on the Profession?" I asked

"About 16 years" He replied

"Really, That's a long time, that's good. So do you have kids? I inquired

"Yes, two lovely daughter and a Son" he answered with a Smile

As he was speaking I was taking notes. It was an interactive session with him, we talked about his experiences in Architecture and some challenges he faced.

He was suprised that after a long discussion about work experience and family, I told him we were done for the Day.

From the look on his face, he felt like he had not achieved anything since he arrived. I knew he had a lot to pour out but I wanted him to relax a bit and take it step by step. From experience, I know that when someone is comfortable with you, they can tell you anything. If this case was as Serious as this, a Criminal one for that matter, then it shouldn't be done with the Interrogation style, I had to give him an avenue to express his feelings without holding back.

We rescheduled for Friday. I usually don't hold any counseling sessions on Friday but I gave him preference because of the nature of his Challenge. I got his Contact and he got mine.
